On the night of July 5, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 322 Shahed-type attack UAVs and imitation drones. The Defense Forces neutralized 292 enemy UAVs; hits were recorded in 4 locations.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on July 5 on the Borisoglebsk airfield in the Voronezh region, where Su-34, Su-35S, and Su-30SM are based. A warehouse with guided aerial bombs, a combat training aircraft, and possibly other aircraft were hit.

From July 4 to July 5, Russian invaders lost 1050 soldiers and 214 units of military equipment. The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 05.07.25 amount to 1,025,260 personnel eliminated.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that since the beginning of 2025, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have neutralized over 230,000 Russian occupiers, 1,311 tanks, and 2,885 armored vehicles. Syrskyi also prohibited the concentration of personnel and equipment at training grounds to enhance safety.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck the command post of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation for the second time in a week. The command post of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division in Donetsk region was also hit.

Prosecutors have sent an indictment to court against Oleg Poberezhniuk, former commander of the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade. He is accused of inaction by military authorities, as he did not react to facts of inhumane treatment and torture of subordinate servicemen.

Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian flag installed by the occupiers near the Hremyach checkpoint on the border with Chernihiv region. This provocation was aimed at creating the appearance of Russian troops' presence on the territory of Ukraine.

On July 4, Ukraine and Russia conducted a prisoner exchange, as a result of which servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including defenders of Mariupol, as well as civilians, returned home. Among those released are both soldiers and officers, aged 20 to 59.

Ukraine has returned its defenders and civilians, most of whom had been in Russian captivity since 2022. Among those released are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, State Border Guard Service, State Special Communications Service, who defended Ukraine in various regions.

On July 4, the AFU struck JSC "FNPC "Research Institute of Applied Chemistry" in Sergiyev Posad, Moscow Oblast. The enterprise produces thermobaric warheads for "Shahed"-type UAVs; a fire and heavy smoke were recorded.

On the night of July 4, an air raid alert was declared throughout Ukraine due to the threat of Kinzhal missiles from Russian MiG-31Ks. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a missile threat.

The number of injured as a result of the shelling of Poltava has increased to 59 people, two died. The attack by Russian drones caused fires in the building of the Poltava City Territorial Recruitment Center and a private residential building.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved for operation almost 50 new models of automotive equipment from Ukrainian manufacturers in six months. This is twice as many as last year and includes tractors, trucks, and all-terrain chassis.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated the need for a strategic rethinking of the EU's defense policy. They emphasized that supporting Ukraine with weapons is an investment in the security of the European Union, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are deterring a threat to Europe.

AFU soldiers expressed gratitude to Maksym Reznytskyi and Tetiana Svetnik for financial support, which allowed them to purchase a car, Starlink, and EW equipment. One of the shells with an inscription from the patron has already hit its target.

As a result of the morning attack by Russian drones on Poltava, at least two military personnel and two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed. In total, 10 people were injured, including two military personnel from the TCC.

The SBU detained a major of the Ukrainian Air Force in Lviv region, who turned out to be a Russian agent recruited through his ex-wife. He collected information about Ukrainian military aviation for missile and drone strikes.

As of the morning of July 3, 2025, one Russian ship without "Kalibrs" was recorded in the Black Sea. There are no enemy ships in the Azov Sea, and three enemy ships are in the Mediterranean Sea, one of which is a carrier of "Kalibr" cruise missiles with a total salvo of up to 4 missiles.

On the evening of July 2, during an air raid alert in Kyiv, air defense forces opened fire on enemy drones flying from the eastern direction. Residents were asked to remain in shelters.

Russian occupiers launched experimental naval drones in the direction of the city of Pivdenne, Odesa region, but they detonated without reaching the territorial waters of Ukraine. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, confirmed that the raid yielded no results.

Since the beginning of the current day, 76 combat engagements have taken place on the front, of which more than a quarter occurred in the Pokrovsk direction. Russian occupiers also shelled the border areas of Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In June, the Ministry of Defense codified over 120 new types of weapons, most of which are domestically produced. Since the beginning of 2025, over 600 types of weapons and military equipment have been approved for use, including 270 new UAVs.

A TCC employee from Dnipro has been notified of suspicion for illegally entering data about unfitness for service for at least 17 people. He used access to the "Oberih" system to falsify data, including for his brother.

Military expert Oleh Zhdanov considers the Mi-8 indispensable for Ukrainian aviation, despite its outdated design.

The head of the "LPR" Leonid Pasichnyk announced the full occupation of Luhansk region, but the Ukrainian side refutes this. Fighting continues near Bilohorivka, Hrekivka, Nadiia, and Novoiehorivka, as well as in Serebryansky forest.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia approved the transfer of 42 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers and other military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The equipment, produced in Latvia, will arrive in the near future, and Latvia will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
