President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the preparation of documents for posthumous awarding of the Hero of Ukraine title to pilot Dmytro Fisher, Azov fighter Nazariy Hryntsevych, and 3rd Assault Brigade soldier Vitaliy Karvatskyi. On the night of July 5, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 322 Shahed-type attack UAVs and imitation drones. The Defense Forces neutralized 292 enemy UAVs; hits were recorded in 4 locations.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on July 5 on the Borisoglebsk airfield in the Voronezh region, where Su-34, Su-35S, and Su-30SM are based. A warehouse with guided aerial bombs, a combat training aircraft, and possibly other aircraft were hit.

From July 4 to July 5, Russian invaders lost 1050 soldiers and 214 units of military equipment. The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 05.07.25 amount to 1,025,260 personnel eliminated.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that since the beginning of 2025, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have neutralized over 230,000 Russian occupiers, 1,311 tanks, and 2,885 armored vehicles. Syrskyi also prohibited the concentration of personnel and equipment at training grounds to enhance safety.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck the command post of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation for the second time in a week. The command post of the 20th Motorized Rifle Division in Donetsk region was also hit.

Prosecutors have sent an indictment to court against Oleg Poberezhniuk, former commander of the 211th Pontoon-Bridge Brigade. He is accused of inaction by military authorities, as he did not react to facts of inhumane treatment and torture of subordinate servicemen.
