The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced an increase in the number of units in January 2025 and plans for the future. The development of the troops continues through recruitment, training, and the build-up of unmanned systems.
StratCom of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports the destruction of nine oil facilities in Russia in January. Among the targets hit were oil depots in Engels, Volgograd, Bryansk and other strategic facilities.

Rescue operations after a missile strike on Poltava have been completed, killing 14 people, including two children. The President thanked the rescuers and called on partners to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

The Russian Federation has opened a criminal case against the commander of the 19th missile brigade of the AFU, Rostyslav Karpusha, for allegedly hitting a boarding school in Suzha. The AFU air force provided evidence that the attack was carried out by Russian aviation.

In January 2025, the Ministry of Defense demined more than 8,700 hectares of de-occupied territories. 6,011 explosive hazards were cleared, including 8,682 hectares of agricultural land and 11.38 km of roads.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrskyi announced an increase in the training period for instructors from 1 to 2 months. The basic training of recruits has also been extended to 1.5 months and new training methods have been introduced.
