In Merefa, Kharkiv region, a 71-year-old woman fainted while trying to stop a military enlistment office service vehicle after a man was forcibly dragged into a minivan. Police launched an investigation into the hooliganism.

The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, reported that the situation in the region is under control, and attempts by enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups to penetrate have not been successful for a long time. Over the past day, 183 combat engagements were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks, inflicting significant losses on them, including 1050 personnel and 56 artillery systems.

On July 5, Ukraine is expected to have variable cloudiness and thunderstorms, especially in the north, center, east, and southeast. Air temperature will decrease, except for the southern regions, Crimea, and Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

On July 4, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv Oblast with Shahed drones, hitting Chuhuiv and Kupiansk. As a result of the strikes, five civilians were injured, including a 12-year-old boy.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that since the beginning of 2025, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have neutralized over 230,000 Russian occupiers, 1,311 tanks, and 2,885 armored vehicles. Russians attacked a hospital in Kherson, as a result of which five patients and three nurses were injured. The building of the healthcare facility was destroyed.

On Wednesday, July 2, in the Kharkiv region, as a result of an attack by Russian "Geran-2" type drones, fires were recorded at agricultural enterprises in the Kupiansk district. One person died, one was injured.

Law enforcement officers completed the investigation against officials of one of the territorial communities of Kharkiv region, who appropriated almost UAH 20 million allocated for road repairs. The indictment has been sent to court, six participants of the scheme face up to 13 years in prison.

The Prosecutor's Office and the SBU have notified of suspicion to a junior sergeant of the Russian Federation, known as "Altai", who is involved in the murder of at least three Ukrainian prisoners of war at the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant. The crimes were recorded from June 16 to July 3, 2024, and on September 24, "Altai" was taken prisoner by Ukraine.

Russian occupiers do not have sufficient forces to create a buffer zone along the border with Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions; their true goal is to seize the entire territory of Ukraine.
