Ukrainian troops repelled one Russian attack in the Kursk region, and two more clashes are ongoing. Over the last day, 72 combat engagements took place in various frontline areas.

In Dnipropetrovs'k region, an investigation against a military unit commander over the purchase of low-quality clothing has been completed. Servicemen received cheap counterparts instead of high-quality uniforms worth almost UAH 140 million.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully attacked the 810th Brigade of the Russian Federation. According to media reports, the missile hit a cultural center in the village of Ivanivske in Kursk region.

Ukrainian manufacturers presented more than 10 models of FPV drones with fiber optic control. The drones, which can carry up to 3 kg of payload, will soon be put into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Chief Syrskyi reported to the President on the situation in Donetsk, Kursk, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions. Most of the attacks are on the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are successfully repelling the enemy.

Russian troops advanced near Vovkove, Neskuchne, Novoyelizavetivka, Solone, Vozdvyzhenka and Kurakhove. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold their positions and hold back the enemy.

The Ukrainian Air Force reports active movement of enemy drones in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Sumy, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Mykolaiv regions. The drones are moving in different directions, and the population is urged to take cover.

Over the last day, 125 combat engagements took place in various sectors of the frontline. The most intense enemy attacks were recorded in the Pokrovske (35 attacks) and Kurakhove (18 attacks) sectors.

MP Mariana Bezuhla reported that an enemy Shahed hit near the Kyiv office on January 1. She criticized the military command and the work of the Armed Forces commander Syrsky due to problems with air defense.

Olha Reshetilova reported that the main tool of the military ombudsman will be the consideration of complaints. The ombudsman will work exclusively with active servicemembers.

Two 38-year-old men beat and robbed an Armed Forces serviceman who had come to Kharkiv on vacation. The attackers face up to 10 years in prison for robbery under martial law.

In the Kursk sector, Russian troops lost more than 38,000 soldiers and more than a thousand pieces of equipment. More than 700 occupants were taken prisoner, which helped to exchange 189 Ukrainian soldiers.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned of the threat of ballistic missile use in several regions of Ukraine. Missile threat from the occupied Crimea and Kursk region are recorded, and explosions were confirmed in Mykolaiv.

The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law on the liquidation of medical and social expert commissions from January 1, 2025. Instead of the MSEC, 1,348 expert teams will start working in 286 hospitals, which will assess functioning according to new standards.

Enemy troops fired on 9 communities in Sumy region, making 59 explosions. Missiles, artillery, mortars and FPV drones were used, and a car was damaged.

The Verkhovna Rada has approved Ukraine's defense budget for 2025 in the amount of UAH 2. 22 trillion. The Ministry of Defense will receive the most funds - UAH 1.57 trillion, the Ministry of Internal Affairs - UAH 438 billion, and the National Guard - UAH 161 billion.

There were 188 combat engagements in the frontline, with 56 attacks in the Pokrovsk sector. The most active fighting also took place in the Liman, Kramatorsk and Kurakhove sectors.

In 2024, the Air Force of Ukraine destroyed more than 1,300 missiles, 1,400 drones, 40 airplanes and 6 helicopters. The Ukrainian Air Force flew more than 20,000 sorties, of which almost 9,000 were with Western weapons.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck at the Yartsevskaya oil depot in the Smolensk region of Russia. Powerful explosions and a fire of oil tanks were recorded at the facility, which supplied the Russian army.

The head of the GUR refused to comment on the impact of the operation in Kursk region on the situation at the front. Budanov confirmed that Russia is capable of continuing the war at the current level.

The government has updated the rules for crossing the border for men aged 18-25 who served under contract in the Armed Forces. A special certificate from the unit commander and a military registration document are now required to leave.

Since the beginning of 2024, more than 32 thousand Ukrainians have applied to recruitment centers for advice on military service. 7198 people are already undergoing the selection stage, and more than 10 thousand vacancies are available at the centers.
