An explosion was heard in Sumy. An air alert was announced in Sumy and other eastern and northeastern regions. The Ukrainian Air Force warned of UAV activity in Chernihiv, Sumy, and Dnipro regions.

In Chernihiv region, 55 explosions were recorded due to enemy shelling with artillery, mortars and drone attacks. The attacks were carried out in 4 communities: Horodnyanska, Novhorod-Siverska, Semenivska and Snovska.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported 169 combat engagements over the past day. The most intense fighting took place in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove sectors, where there were 24 enemy attacks each.

Russian troops shelled 4 border communities in Chernihiv region. They used artillery, mortars, FPV drones and UAVs to drop explosive devices. No casualties among the local population were reported.

The General Staff reported 172 combat engagements over the day. The most intense fighting took place in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions, where the enemy launched 63 attacks. Defense forces continue operations in the Kursk region.

On the night of October 7, Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 80 air targets, including Kinzhal missiles. Air defense forces shot down 34 targets, including 2 Kinzhal and 32 attack UAVs.

The SBGS spokesperson reported active attempts by the enemy to storm border guard positions in some parts of the frontline. The border guards have combat brigades with experience and weapons to counter the attacks.

In the village of Nova Basan in Chernihiv region, a car hit two girls aged 12 and 13 who were walking along the roadside, killing both children. Police detained the driver, who was reportedly sober.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported 141 combat engagements over the past day. The most active enemy attacks took place in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions, where 39 enemy assaults took place.

On October 7, rains, sometimes heavy, and thunderstorms are expected in Ukraine. The temperature at night will be 7-17°, during the day 11-27°. In Kyiv, moderate rain, temperature at night around 10°, during the day 12-14°.

Russian troops continue to storm Ukrainian positions in several areas. Most attacks were repelled in the Liman and Pokrovsk sectors, where intense fighting continues.

According to the General Staff, 159 combat engagements took place in the frontline over the past day. The enemy launched 3 missile and 82 air strikes, fired over 4,400 times, including 161 times from multiple rocket launchers.

President Zelensky met with teachers from Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Poltava regions. He awarded them state awards and conferred honorary titles for their important work in the regions bordering the aggressor.

Ukrainian cities are actively establishing partnerships with foreign municipalities. This allows them to receive humanitarian aid, implement energy efficiency projects, and prepare for post-war reconstruction.

In Chernihiv, a sewer collector in the Sherstyanka district was destroyed. Residents of ZAZ, Masan, Podusivka and Sherstyanka are asked to reduce water consumption on October 4-7 and to make reserves of drinking water.

Most of the identified components in Russian weapons come from US and European companies. Parts from four Western manufacturers were found in the wreckage of the Iskander missile that hit Chernihiv.
