Pavlohrad is a city in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast of Ukraine, located between the Samara and Vovcha rivers, tributaries of the Dnipro. It is a significant center of the Western Donbas coal basin, which determines its economic specialization. The city's population as of 2024 was 110,144 people. The city was founded in 1770 as Matviivka and received city status in 1784. Throughout its history, Pavlohrad developed as a trade and industrial center, particularly due to its favorable geographical location at the crossroads of important routes.
