Explosions have been reported in the city of Sumy. The air alert in Sumy region has been going on for more than 20 hours, according to monitoring data.

Over the last day, 101 combat engagements took place, most of them in the Pokrovske and Lyman sectors. The enemy carried out 73 air strikes and fired 4,747 times, and the Defense Forces repelled numerous attacks in various parts of the frontline.

On the night of August 9, 2024, Ukraine shot down 27 Russian 'Shahed' attack drones. The attack was carried out from the Prymorsko-Akhtarsk area, and the drones were destroyed in seven regions of Ukraine.

The French Defense Ministry reports a successful offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region of Russia. Russia declares a state of emergency and tries to repel the attack by deploying troops, aircraft and artillery.

The Sumy District Council denied fake reports about the inclusion of the Russian city of Sudzha in the district. At the same time, in the Kursk region of Russia, there are reports of fighting on the territory of Sudzha and the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Over 10,000 customers in Donetsk, Sumy, Dnipro, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhya oblasts have been cut off from power as a result of hostile shelling. Donetsk Oblast suffered the most, with 79.8 thousand customers in 135 settlements without power supply.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the advance of Ukrainian troops in two districts of the Kursk region. They announced that they are sending reinforcements.

In Sumy, kindergartens switch to remote work on August 8 and 9. During the day, the Russians dropped 52 KABs on four border districts of Sumy region.

The enemy attacked 4 border districts of Sumy region, using 52 guided aerial bombs. Sumy district suffered the most, where 22 settlements were under fire all night and morning.

There were 96 combat engagements in the frontline over the last day. The enemy is most active in the Pokrovsk sector, where almost a third of its offensives took place, in particular in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Zhelanne, Karlivka and Hrodivka.

On August 8, Kyiv is expected to have comfortable weather without precipitation, up to +26°. Across Ukraine, the temperature will range from +25° to +32°, with partly cloudy skies and light rains possible in most regions.

There were 68 combat engagements in the frontline over the last day. Russia launched a missile strike, 50 air strikes, used 674 kamikaze drones and fired 3,682 times at Ukrainian troops' positions.

President Zelenskyy spoke with Chief of the Armed Forces Syrskyy about Ukraine's actions. He also had a meeting with Defense Minister Umerov on the missile program.

The High Anti-Corruption Court has allowed the lawyers of former Minister Solskyi to seize NABU materials. This decision is based on information that NABU has data from another case that could confirm the ex-minister's innocence.

On August 6, Russian forces shelled 11 communities in Sumy region, causing 132 explosions. Artillery, mortars, drones and aircraft were used to attack civilian areas.

The head of the Sumy City Military Administration, Oleksiy Drozdenko, reported on the successful work of air defense. According to him, a lot of enemy targets were shot down today, and detailed results will be available later.

On August 6, the enemy launched a rocket attack on the infrastructure of Sumy district. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.
