On the night of August 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck Russian military targets. A UAV storage site in Hvardiiske, the "Orion" station in Novofedorivka, and repeaters were hit.
Military expert Yevhenii Silverstov said that the Armed Forces lack a requirements management system, which is slowing down defense procurement. This has led to delays in transmitting tactical and technical specifications to the Defense Procurement Agency.
On the night of August 16, Russian forces struck Kyiv, Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih. Air defense forces shot down 85 UAVs and three Kh-59/69 missiles.
On August 15, Russian forces carried out 170 attacks on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. The largest number of assaults was on the Pokrovsk front — 23.

Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Robert Brovdi confirmed operations against 29 energy facilities in the occupied territories, including the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant. In total, 240 energy facilities were targeted from July 1 to August 13.
The 425th Separate Assault Regiment "Skelia" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is coming under the operational command of the 1st "Azov" Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine. At the same time, the regiment is not becoming part of the corps' structure.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past day Russian forces lost about 1,310 servicemen, three tanks and 51 artillery systems. Russia’s total losses since the start of the invasion amount to approximately 1,462,970 servicemen.
The President of Ukraine confirmed the successful operation in Novorossiysk, during which Russian ships were hit. He said that long-range sanctions would continue to be used to push Russia toward peace.
In July, the unmanned systems of Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out more than 449,000 missions, which is 3% more than in June. The use of robotic systems increased by 41%, while the ratio of FPV drones stands at 1.6 to 1 in Ukraine’s favor.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that the head of the Zakarpattia Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center had been suspended after violations of human rights and corruption risks were documented. He also accused the former leadership of the Ministry of Defense of inaction.

The Defence Intelligence emphasized that this would help exchange the prisoner for a Ukrainian defender.
On August 10, a MiG-29 fighter jet carrying out a combat mission crashed in Odesa region. The pilot managed to eject and is not in danger.
A UN Security Council meeting dedicated to violations of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians was held in New York. Participants presented testimony of torture and emphasized the need to increase pressure on Russia.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that the head of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center plans to fabricate criminal proceedings against his representative, Andrii Kriuchkov, after violations at the center were exposed. Lubinets called this interference in the work of the authorized representative.
