US President Donald Trump has signed an order that further tightens restrictions on the entry of foreign nationals into the United States. This is reported by UNN with reference to the White House website.
Details
The document states that full entry restrictions now apply to 5 more countries "based on recent analysis": Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria, as well as to individuals holding travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority.
According to the decree, full entry restrictions have also been extended for citizens from 12 high-risk countries: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
In addition, full entry restrictions and limitations are being introduced for two countries that were previously subject to partial restrictions: Laos and Sierra Leone.
With the signed document, Trump extended partial restrictions for citizens of four of the seven high-risk countries: Burundi, Cuba, Togo, and Venezuela.
Since Turkmenistan has cooperated productively with the United States and has demonstrated significant progress since the previous Proclamation, this new Proclamation lifts the ban on the issuance of non-immigrant visas while maintaining the suspension of entry for Turkmen citizens as immigrants.
Partial entry restrictions and limitations are added for 15 additional countries: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominica, Gabon, Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The White House emphasized that this step is aimed at strengthening national security and reviewing entry policies from countries where, according to the Trump administration, there is weak document control or high security risks.
"The Proclamation contains exceptions for lawful permanent residents, holders of existing visas, certain visa categories such as athletes and diplomats, and individuals whose entry is in the national interest of the United States. The Proclamation narrows broader exceptions for family-based immigrant visas that carry proven risks of fraud, while preserving opportunities for individual cases," the document states.
Recall
It was previously reported that the Trump administration plans to expand the ban on entry to the US to 30 countries after a shooting in Washington that killed a servicewoman.
