The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is the central executive body responsible for forming and implementing state policy in the fields of education and science, scientific, technical, and innovation activities. Since its establishment, the Ministry has focused its efforts on modernizing the educational system, adapting it to modern needs and global standards.
The Ministry's mission is to stimulate the development of education and science for the intellectual and professional growth of individuals, as well as to form high-quality human capital in Ukraine.
1996
The Law of Ukraine "On Education" was adopted, laying the legal foundations for the development of the national system
2005
The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment was established to implement external independent evaluation
2008
Mandatory external independent evaluation was introduced as the main tool for admission to higher education institutions
2014
A new Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" was adopted, which expanded the autonomy of higher education institutions and updated standards
2016
The Concept of "New Ukrainian School" was approved, which became the strategic basis for reforming secondary education
2017
A new Law of Ukraine "On Education" was adopted, which ensured a deep and comprehensive educational reform
2020
The national online platform "All-Ukrainian Online School" was developed and launched to support distance learning
2021
Action plans for reforming national sectoral academies of sciences were approved to increase their effectiveness
2025
Piloting of the reform of the senior specialized school began and the Standard Educational Program was approved
2026
The educational ecosystem "Mriya" was launched
