The Government of Ukraine has allocated UAH 2 billion for free meals for pupils in grades 1-4 starting in October 2024. The funds will be transferred to local communities as a subvention to provide hot lunches to all primary school children.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, inspected the construction of 3 shelters in Vasylkiv schools. Each shelter is designed for 280 people, and they are scheduled to be commissioned before the start of the school year and during the fall.

The Ministry of Education announces the participation of 143 higher education institutions in a pilot project of state grants. Applicants for the contract will be able to receive from UAH 15 thousand per year to partially cover the cost of education.

The number of medal winners among school graduates in Ukraine has increased by 141% in 6 years. The Education Ombudsman proposes to revise the awarding system, as medals do not give advantages when applying to universities.

The Ministry of Education and Science has established requirements for the creation of protected spaces in schools without shelters. This is a temporary solution to ensure face-to-face education in communities with a satisfactory or moderate level of risk.

The Ministry of Education and Science has approved a new model program "Defense of Ukraine" for grades 10-11. The course focuses on practical skills, patriotism and national security, with the same content for all students regardless of gender.

The State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Education and Science have developed three options for arranging ground shelters for schools. This will allow about a thousand schools to start full-time education this year, and 300,000 students to return to offline learning by the end of 2024.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the state standard for specialized secondary education, which will be introduced on September 1, 2027. It will allow students to form an individual educational trajectory and choose a study profile.
