Russian troops continue to attack Toretsk in Donetsk region, but have not succeeded in ousting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The most active fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk sector, where the enemy is constantly rotating troops.

Ukrainian troops have withdrawn from the southern part of Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region to avoid encirclement. Defense forces are holding positions on the outskirts of the settlement, preventing further advances by the enemy.

Russian troops are planning to capture Toretsk to advance to Kostiantynivka. To intensify the offensive, the occupiers are redeploying units of the Eastern Military District to the Toretsk direction.

In the occupied Luhansk region, almost 12,000 foreigners were registered for migration in 2024. Russia is conducting ethnic replacement due to the refusal of locals to cooperate with the occupation authorities.

Russian troops control 89% of Velyka Novosilka. ISW believes that further redeployment of Russian troops from this area will indicate the priority areas of the offensive in the spring and summer of 2025.
