Valerii Fedorovych Zaluzhnyi was born on July 8, 1973, in the city of Novohrad-Volynskyi, Zhytomyr Oblast. He received his education at the Odesa Institute of Land Forces and the National University of Ostroh Academy. Throughout his career, he held various command positions, including deputy commander of Sector "C" during the war in eastern Ukraine and commander of Operational Command "North." In 2021, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since May 2024, he has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom.
