The US was furious over Ukraine's destruction of the cruiser "moskva" and the operation in the Kursk region - NYT

Washington perceived Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region as a breach of trust. Despite this, support was not stopped to avoid the death of Ukrainian soldiers.

In the US, Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation was perceived as a step towards violating trust, but they did not stop their support in order to prevent the deaths of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers who were already on the territory of the aggressor country. This is according to Adam Entus, an investigative correspondent, in his article "Partnership: The Secret History of the War in Ukraine" for The New York Times writes, reports UNN.

The author notes that for the Americans, the deployment of the Ukrainian intervention in the Kursk region in the summer of 2024 became a significant breach of trust.
It's not just that the Ukrainians kept them (the US - ed.) in the dark again: they secretly crossed a mutually agreed line, taking equipment provided by the coalition onto Russian territory.
He also reports that after the Ukrainian military sank the missile cruiser "moskva" on April 14, 2022, the Americans were angry and panicked.
The sinking was a signal of triumph - a demonstration of Ukrainian skill and Russian ineptitude. But this episode also reflected the disjointed state of Ukrainian-American relations in the early weeks of the war. The Americans were angry because the Ukrainians did not warn them: they were surprised that Ukraine had missiles capable of reaching the ship, and they panicked because the Biden administration had no intention of allowing the Ukrainians to attack such a powerful symbol of Russian power.
He clarifies that the situation was further complicated by the tense relations between the then Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Mark Milley. However, this disparate coalition "gradually turned into a real partnership under the pressure of rapid events."

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko stated that he does not know what prevents the US from putting pressure on Russia to stop Russia's daily drone attacks on civilians and violations of the ceasefire on energy. According to him, one can say as much as one likes in the US that "the ceasefire is working", denying reality, but the world is so informed that reality cannot be denied.
