Chernihiv is an ancient city located in northern Ukraine, approximately 150 km northeast of Kyiv, on the picturesque banks of the Desna River. It is the administrative center of the Chernihiv Oblast, and its population as of January 2026 is 294,551 people. The city has a rich history, with archaeological findings indicating its existence as early as the 9th century, and the first official mention dates back to 907.
