Over the past day, 278 battles took place on the front line, which is significantly more than the day before. The largest number of enemy attacks, almost a third, fell on the Pokrovsk direction.
278 battles took place on the front line yesterday, which is more than two-thirds more than the day before, with the hottest fighting in the Pokrovsk direction, which accounted for almost a third of the enemy's attacks, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its morning summary on December 17, showing a map of the hostilities, writes UNN.
In total, 278 combat engagements were recorded over the past day.

Yesterday, the enemy launched 74 air strikes, dropped 179 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it carried out 3729 shellings, including 75 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 3523 kamikaze drones for destruction.
The aggressor launched air strikes, in particular, on the areas of the settlements of Ivanivka, Dnipropetrovsk region; Vozdvyzhivka, Zaliznychne, Ternuvate, Zorivka, Nove Pole, Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia region.
Situation by directions
In the Northern-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian attacks. The enemy launched three air strikes, dropped eight guided aerial bombs, and carried out 138 shellings, including eight from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhansky direction, our troops stopped nine enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Prylipka, Synelnykove, and towards Izbytske, Obukhivka, Kolodyazne.
In the Kupyansk direction, 24 attacks by the invaders took place yesterday. Our defenders repelled the enemy's assault actions towards Kupyansk, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Pishchane, Novoplatonivka, Holubivka, Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 27 times, trying to break through our defense in the area of Torske and towards the settlements of Lyman, Stepove, Koroviy Yar, Zarichne, Drobycheve, Novoselivka, Stavky, Hlushchenkove.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled six enemy attacks in the areas of Siversk, Serebryanka, and towards Pazeno.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders once in the direction of Bondarne.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 24 attacks near Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusynyi Yar, Yablunivka, and towards Sofiivka, Kostiantynivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders stopped 82 assault actions of the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Kotlyne, Udachne, Pokrovsk, and towards Rivne, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Zvirove, Serhiivka, Novopavlivka, Filiia, Nove Shakhove, Dorozhne, Sukhetske, Vilne, Ivanivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy carried out 20 attacks yesterday in the areas of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Krasnohirske, Zlahoda, Rybne, and towards Ivanivka, Iskry, Oleksandrogard, Verbove, Pryvilne.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Defense Forces repelled 28 Russian attacks in the area of the settlement of Solodke and towards Varvarivka, Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy tried eight times in vain to break through our defense in the areas of the settlements of Shcherbaky, Stepove, and in the directions of Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, and Prymorske.
No combat engagements were recorded in the Prydniprovskyi direction.
No signs of the enemy forming offensive groups were detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.
