Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, India. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi in 1978, and subsequently a Master of Arts from Gujarat University in 1982. In his youth, he joined the paramilitary nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, holding various positions there, and from 2001 to 2014, he served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Since May 26, 2014, he has been the 14th Prime Minister of India, and the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
