General Staff: 145 combat engagements over the day, almost a third in the Pokrovsk sector

Over the past 24 hours, 145 clashes took place on the frontline, almost a third of them in the Pokrovsk sector, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a summary as of 8 a.m. on August 19, UNN reports.

Over the last day, 145 combat engagements were registered. The situation was the most intense in the Pokrovsk sector, and the enemy was also actively advancing in the Toretsk sector

According to the updated information, yesterday the enemy launched five attacks with eight missiles and 79 air strikes at the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, dropping 106 KABs. In addition, it made over 4,600 attacks, including 159 from multiple launch rocket systems.

"Yesterday, the aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces carried out 17 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel and weapons. In addition, an artillery system, two air defense systems, three control points, four radars and two other important occupants' facilities were hit," the General Staff noted.

In the Kharkiv sector, three battles took place near Liptsy and Vovchansk.

The enemy attacked 20 times in the Kupyansk sector. Defense forces repelled assaults near Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, Kolesnykivka, Lozova and Synkivka.

In the Lyman sector, 20 combat engagements took place, in particular near Hrekivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Terny, Novosadove and Torske.

Two combat engagements took place in the Siversk sector. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian assault operations near Verkhnekamianske and Ivano-Daryivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, 14 engagements took place in the areas of Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Chasovyi Yar, Klishchiyivka, Stupochky and Predtechyne.

On the Toretsk direction, Russians attacked 24 times near Zalizne, Toretsk, Diliyivka and Nelipivka.

In the Pokrovske sector, our defenders repelled 45 enemy assaults in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptyche, Novohrodivka, Zavitne, Skuchne and Mykhailivka. The highest concentration of attacks was near Vozdvyzhenka and Novohrodivka.

In the Kurakhove sector, Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped nine enemy attacks near Paraskoviivka, Krasnohorivka and Kostiantynivka.

On the Vremivsky direction, the Russian invaders attacked four times, in particular, in the direction of Vodiane and Rozdolne.

On the Prydniprovsky direction, enemy troops made four assaults on the positions of Ukrainian units. They were unsuccessful.

The situation remains unchanged at the Gulyaypilsky and Orikhiv directions.

No signs of enemy offensive groups were detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy maintains a military presence, conducting mortar and artillery shelling of settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation.

"At the same time, our soldiers continue to actively inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy along the entire combat line," the General Staff emphasized.
