After the fall of the Assad regime and its flight to Russia, European countries have been massively suspending consideration of asylum applications from Syrian citizens. These countries include France, Germany, Britain, Sweden, and others.

In a number of European countries, political and legal debates are taking place on the repatriation of refugees to their country of origin. Against the backdrop of the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, more than 10 European countries are currently not considering Syrian asylum applications. In particular, applications of people who were allowed to stay longer only due to the current uncertainty were rejected.

After rebels seized the Syrian capital and President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia after 13 years of civil war, many European countries have suspended consideration of Syrians ' asylum applications.

On Monday, December 9, France, Germany, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Greece announced that they would suspend the processing of asylum applications from Syrian citizens.

In particular:

Denmark suspended application processing on Monday and said Syrians whose applications have already been rejected and who have been granted a departure deadline will be allowed to stay longer due to current uncertainty.

Britain has suspended making decisions on Syrians 'asylum applications in order to"assess the situation." This was announced on Monday by a government representative.

The Provisional Government of Austria has ordered the suspension of consideration of Syrians ' asylum applications. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said he had instructed the ministry to prepare a program of "orderly repatriation and deportation to Syria.

Today Croatia announced that it has temporarily suspended consideration of Syrians ' asylum applications. 

The Swiss government on Tuesday said it had temporarily suspended asylum procedures for Syrians "until it can better assess the situation in the country.

Finland's migration authority, which currently houses 350 asylum applications from Syrian citizens, also announced today that it is suspending their consideration.

France: the interior ministry said on Monday that it is working to suspend consideration of current asylum cases from Syria, and a decision is expected soon.

Germany suspends consideration of all applications from Syrian citizens until further notice.

Greece has suspended consideration of asylum applications for about 9,000 Syrians, and a meeting is scheduled for Friday to finally resolve the issue.

Applications for asylum from Syria are being suspended in Italy.

Norway: Syrians ' asylum applications will not yet be rejected or approved.

The Swedish Migration Agency said on Monday it had suspended decision-making on Syrians ' asylum applications, saying it could not assess protection needs.
