In Zhytomyr region, a Russian agent who, on the orders of Russian special services, set fire to Ukrzaliznytsia facilities to disrupt logistics, was sentenced. The man was detained after the sabotage, found guilty, and sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), according to UNN.
Details
As the investigation established, on the enemy's orders, the defendant destroyed relay cabinets of signaling installations on Ukrzaliznytsia's main lines.
Through sabotage, the Rashists hoped to disrupt the logistics of railway cargo transportation through the northern region of Ukraine.
It is noted that the enemy's task was carried out by a 35-year-old contractor who voluntarily left a military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was hiding in the Berdychiv district.
Trying to find "easy money" on Telegram channels, he fell into the field of view of Russian special services. For the promise of "quick part-time work" from the Rashists, the agent agreed to carry out arsons of critical infrastructure in the border region.
It was established that the perpetrator first found a relay cabinet and agreed on its destruction with the curator.
After that, the agent bought 1.5 liters of gasoline, then arrived at the "location" by bicycle and set fire to the railway electrical equipment.
Law enforcement officers detained him "red-handed" at his place of residence, where he tried to hide from justice.
During the search, a smartphone was seized from the detainee, on which he recorded his crimes for "reporting" to the Russian special services officer.
Based on the SSU materials, the agent was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law).
Taking into account cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
