Nicolas Maduro

President of Venezuela
Nicolás Maduro Moros was born on November 23, 1962, in Caracas, Venezuela. He received his secondary education, graduating from Avali Lyceum and a public high school, and also completed a one-year course of study at a political education center in Cuba. He began his career as a bus driver and later became an unofficial member of the Caracas Metro workers' union in the 1970s and 1980s. In politics, Maduro rose from a member of the National Assembly and Speaker of Parliament to Minister of Foreign Affairs (2006-2013) and Vice President (2012-2013). Since 2013, he has held the position of President of Venezuela. However, in January 2019, the Venezuelan parliament removed Maduro from office, appointing Juan Guaidó as interim president. Since January 11, 2019, he has been recognized as illegitimate by the National Assembly of Venezuela and most states (including Ukraine).
