War in Ukraine
On December 4 and 5, Russian occupiers attacked Chernihiv and settlements in the Chernihiv region, using various types of weapons. As a result of the strikes, garages, educational institutions, private houses, enterprises, and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged.
As a result of Russia's night attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Slavutych was de-energized, as well as consumers in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. An attack on a generating facility in Donetsk region was recorded, and power outage schedules are ongoing.

On the night of January 5, Russia attacked Ukraine with 9 ballistic and anti-aircraft guided missiles, as well as 165 attack drones. The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported shooting down or suppressing 137 enemy UAVs in the north, center, and east of the country.
As a result of the hit on a private medical facility in the capital, one man died and four were injured, two of them in serious condition. 16 patients of the clinic were transferred to municipal hospitals.
Russia claims that Ukraine has been attacking Moscow daily with drones since the beginning of 2026, considering it an escalation. By January 4, 437 drones were allegedly shot down over Russia, including 57 over the Moscow region, causing flight delays at Moscow airports.
Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated 990 occupiers, bringing the total losses of the Russian army to 1,212,520 military personnel. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in drones and artillery.
