Keir Starmer announces meetings to plan the military aspects of a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine. Land, sea, air and reconstruction issues will be discussed.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the next meetings of the so-called "coalition of the willing" to plan the military aspects of a potential peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine. This is reported by Politico, reports UNN.

Details

It is noted that representatives of the "coalition of the willing" will gather at headquarters near London, where they held preliminary military-level talks on a ceasefire in Ukraine the day before.

Europe must "step up" to meet the challenge of "another chapter in history," Keir Starmer told allies, announcing three more days of military planning in London next week

- the publication says.

According to Politico, Starmer confirmed these plans in a telephone conversation with European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the leaders of Turkey, Norway and Iceland on Friday.

A British government spokesman stressed that this week's meeting "further underscored the importance of the coalition having the necessary plans in place for any contingency".

Starmer also shared details of new working groups on planning a "peacekeeping mission" in Ukraine, covering land, sea, air, and recovery and reconstruction issues.

He reiterated to his partners his belief that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking to obstruct and delay proposals for a ceasefire

- writes Politico.

Britain, along with France, is leading the efforts of three dozen states to plan the deployment of a contingent to monitor a potential ceasefire in Ukraine.

Let us remind you

Kir Starmer reported on the development of military plans with 30 countries to ensure the security of Ukraine's skies, seas and borders in the event of a ceasefire agreement.
