Ivano-Frankivsk is a city in southwestern Ukraine, the administrative center of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The city has an area of about 37 km² (within the city limits) or 83.73 km² (the territory of the city council) and, as of 2022, a population of 238,196 people. The city is called the "eastern gate of the Carpathians" because it is located near the mountains. It is known for its history and architectural heritage.
