Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officers detained a Russian agent in Odesa who was registering Starlink satellite terminals for Russian armed groups. This was reported by UNN with reference to the SBU press center.

Details

The detainee turned out to be a local loader recruited by the enemy. He came to the attention of Russian special services while looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels.

The man registered a Starlink in his own name and handed over the relevant credentials to a Russian handler. Subsequently, he involved at least 12 of his acquaintances to register Starlinks under false pretenses.

The perpetrator was detained at his place of residence. All satellite communication systems previously registered by him were also blocked.

Mobile phones used to coordinate his subversive activities with the enemy were discovered and seized from the detainee.

The man was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28 and Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy under martial law).

The detainee is in custody without the right to post bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As a reminder

The Security Service of Ukraine notified Artem Shmul, an employee of Russian military intelligence, of suspicion in absentia. He recruited underage Ukrainian children for sabotage and terrorist attacks in Odesa.
