The fire on the roof of the Dormition Cathedral in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra following Russia's overnight attack has been extinguished, and aviation has been deployed to eliminate the consequences in Kyiv, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported on social media on Monday, UNN writes.

According to the Minister, more than 1,200 SES rescuers and police officers are involved in the recovery efforts in the capital. "Attached forces from rapid response units have arrived. Large-scale fire centers are being extinguished by SES aviation," he indicated.
According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 4 people died in the capital in the Obolonskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Solomianskyi districts. Dozens are wounded. At least 26 residential buildings were damaged.
Today's attack aimed not only to kill and wound civilians. The occupiers directed drones and missiles against history, religion, art, and education. As the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs pointed out, "while rescuers were trying to extinguish the flames in the main cathedral church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the occupiers launched a second strike nearby — on the National Cultural-Art and Museum Complex 'Mystetskyi Arsenal'".
"Kharkiv was also in the enemy's crosshairs tonight. According to updated information, 4 SES rescuers and 1 civil defense specialist from the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration were killed. They were working at the site of a Russian strike when the enemy struck again, targeting the people," Klymenko reported.
"By striking residential buildings, Russia is once again terrorizing civilians. By destroying cultural and historical heritage, it proves once again: its main goal is the destruction of Ukrainian identity," the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
