Chernivtsi is a city in Ukraine, the administrative center of the Chernivtsi Oblast and Chernivtsi Raion. It is located along both banks of the Prut River, covers an area of over 153 square kilometers, and has a population of approximately 260,000 people as of July 2024. The city of Chernivtsi was founded in the 12th century and first mentioned in 1408. Chernivtsi has a multi-layered history that shaped it into a multicultural hub.
