The group attempted to bribe officials to obtain senior positions in territorial customs authorities to organize corruption schemes, offering $1 million for the position of head of Lviv customs.
A group of criminals tried to get "the right people" to take up senior positions in the territorial bodies of the State Customs Service in exchange for a bribe. They offered $1 million for the position of the head of Lviv customs, UNN reports with reference to NABU.
"The NABU and the SAPO prevented an attempt by a group of people to "put the right people" in leadership positions in the territorial bodies of the State Customs Service to organize corruption schemes. USD 1 million was offered for the position of the head of Lviv customs, while the positions of the heads of Volyn and Chernivtsi customs were valued at USD 500 thousand and 200 thousand, respectively," the statement said.
It is noted that the group members hoped that the leadership of the State Customs Service would "not notice" corruption schemes at these customs in exchange for half of the illegally obtained income.
"Two participants in the crime, including its initiator, were served with a notice of suspicion," the NABU said.
