Police in Chernivtsi region are investigating the torture of a child. A 34-year-old woman tied her 10-year-old son with a chain by his leg, explaining that it was a method of education. The child was removed from the family.
Police in the Chernivtsi region have launched an investigation into the torture of a child - a mother is suspected of putting her young son on a chain, the regional police department reported, UNN reports.

The police were approached by the starosta of the Starosta district, who, passing by the yard of a 34-year-old resident of the Mamayivska community, "noticed a boy tied with a chain.
"A resident of the Chernivtsi district tied her 10-year-old son with a chain by the leg and held him in the yard," the police said.
"The 10-year-old boy was taken from his family and is currently in a children's hospital," police said.
Reportedly, the woman is raising four more sons aged 3, 4, 6 and 7 on her own, and also has a 14-year-old daughter who lives with her grandmother. "Until the specialists make an appropriate decision, they are under the supervision of their grandparents, who live separately," the police said.
The mother reportedly explained her criminal actions as "a method of education to prevent her young son from being naughty and running away from home.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Article 127 (Torture) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years.
