Denys Shmyhal

Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Denys Anatoliyovych Shmyhal was born on October 13, 1975, in Lviv. He received his education at Lviv Polytechnic National University, where in 2003 he also earned a Ph.D. in Economics. Throughout his career, he held leadership positions at enterprises in Lviv and worked in the Lviv Regional State Administration. He served as the Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. In 2020, he became the Prime Minister of Ukraine. Since July 2025, he has been the Minister of Defense.
