Ukraine's Energy Minister Galushchenko says that the country's ability to import up to 1.7 GW of electricity covers any electricity shortage.

The possibility to import up to 1.7 GW of electricity to Ukraine will more than cover any possible deficit in the power system. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko in an interview with the Rada TV channel, a UNN correspondent reports.

Today's import capability, which is 1.7 GW of electricity to Ukraine, more than covers any possible deficit in the system. We are trying to stimulate electricity imports on our part, so that the industry primarily uses imported electricity for production. Moreover, the analysis of price indicators in neighboring markets shows that there are hours when imported electricity can be even cheaper, especially when it comes to a contract for a month or two

- Galushchenko said.
