Christopher Edward Nolan was born on July 30, 1970, in London to a British father and an American mother, holding dual citizenship of the United Kingdom and the United States. He began making short films as a teenager. He earned a degree in English literature from University College London, where he simultaneously actively shot amateur films at the local film club. His debut feature film "Following" (1998) was made with virtually no budget, and he gained real recognition thanks to the nonlinear thriller "Memento" (2000). He is known for his passion for complex narrative structures, shooting on film, and practical effects instead of computer graphics. He achieved worldwide fame thanks to the Batman trilogy ("Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight", "The Dark Knight Rises"), as well as the films "Inception", "Interstellar", "Dunkirk", and "Tenet". In 2023, he released the biographical drama "Oppenheimer" about the creator of the American atomic bomb, which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
