"Invitation accepted" - Erling Haaland responded to Tom Holland after the "viral" dinner proposal

Norwegian footballer Erling Haaland accepted British actor Tom Holland's dinner invitation after a viral story on social media, reports UNN.

On the show "The Tonight Show Starring," host Jimmy Fallon read a tweet from Tom Holland in which the actor "complained" that he had not received a reply to his Instagram message from Norwegian forward Erling Haaland, in which the actor invited the footballer to dinner. 

As Holland recounted, he saw the footballer in Monaco at the races during the Monaco Grand Prix of "Formula 1" and wrote to him on Instagram with a dinner invitation, but never received a reply. 

"I was in Monaco, watching Lewis Hamilton's race, and I saw him — he was in the VIP box right opposite me. So I thought, 'Why not try my luck?'" said Holland. 

The actor called the ignored message a "humbling experience" and joked that it's good for actors to be overlooked from time to time.

"I'll tell you what — it's exactly the kind of experience that grounds you, and it's very useful for actors. You know? You're like, 'Oh, I'll write to him now, invite him to dinner.' And then — no reply. No excuse, no simple 'I'm busy today, I have football' — just nothing," said Holland. 

After this, Erling Haaland left a comment under the Instagram post: "Dinner invitation accepted. A bit late. Just say where." 

During an appearance on the Norwegian TV show A Laget, Erling Haaland recounted how events unfolded. Having received a text message from "some Holland" after the weekend in Monaco, the athlete simply looked at the unfamiliar sender's name and decided not to waste time replying. "Who even is this?" — the athlete thought.

The footballer admitted that in everyday life he very rarely watches movies, so the name of the main star of the Marvel cinematic universe meant nothing to him.

Everything changed in an instant when someone from Erling's circle accidentally found out about it and exclaimed: "Dude, Tom Holland is Spider-Man." Only then did the puzzle click in the forward's head, and he realized that he had personally left a top Hollywood actor without a reply. 

It is still unknown whether the two Hollands/Haalands managed to have dinner after all. 

Erling Haaland is currently in Italy, where he attended a fashion show in Taormina on the Italian island of Sicily with his wife. 

Tom Holland, meanwhile, attended the release of the film "Odyssey" today, in which he plays one of the lead roles.
