Christopher Nolan has surpassed his previous achievements with "The Odyssey," and this recent Universal Pictures release is now the highest-grossing film of the acclaimed director's career.
On Sunday, the studio confirmed that the mythological epic had grossed $1.104 billion worldwide during its first month in theaters following its July 17 premiere. This surpasses the $1.085 billion earned by 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises" and the $1.005 billion earned by 2008's "The Dark Knight," after two Warner Bros. Batman films had previously occupied the top spots on the director's list of highest-grossing films.
As of Sunday, "The Odyssey" had grossed $461.1 million in the United States and ranked second at the weekend box office behind "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

The film, in which Matt Damon plays Odysseus, who embarks on a difficult journey home after the Trojan War, also stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson. It is the highest-grossing film of Damon's, Hathaway's, and Pattinson's careers worldwide.
The adaptation of Homer's ancient poem is now the second-highest-grossing R-rated film in both the United States and worldwide, surpassed only by 2024's "Deadpool & Wolverine."
"The Odyssey" grossed $289.3 million worldwide in IMAX theaters, making it the highest-grossing IMAX film of all time. Nolan's film is considered the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX film cameras.
Nolan's films have grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. "The Odyssey" is among the world's top five highest-grossing films of the year, having surpassed the billion-dollar mark.
