Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Rome, during which the parties discussed support for Ukraine and the security situation. This was reported by the President's Office, writes UNN.

The head of state thanked Italy for its unwavering support and specifically noted assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector during the winter. Mattarella assured that Italy's position remains stable and support for Ukraine will continue.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed further steps to strengthen energy resilience, as well as the security situation in Ukraine and the world, particularly in the Middle East. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of a ceasefire as a tool for de-escalation and stressed that a similar approach should be applied to end Russian aggression.
Special attention was paid to defense cooperation, in particular strengthening Ukrainian air defense and implementing agreements with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on joint drone production.

The leaders also discussed sanctions against Russia, financial assistance to Ukraine, and further progress towards joining the European Union.
