"They are preparing for unpopular decisions" - Zelenskyy on Telegram blocking in Russia
Kyiv • UNN
The President of Ukraine believes that the restriction of the messenger's operation is related to the Russians' preparation for unpopular decisions. This could be an escalation or the end of the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the Russians' decision to restrict the operation of the Telegram messenger, and later - to completely shut it down. This is reported by UNN with reference to details of the conversation between the head of state and journalists.
Details
According to him, the Russians are doing this in order to make unpopular decisions.
Perhaps this is the end of the war in one format or another. Or, conversely, an escalation of the war. Then it's an even greater mobilization for them. People from Moscow and St. Petersburg go to the front, and corpses go back to Moscow and St. Petersburg. That is, the large cities that he previously tried to avoid mobilizing, he will no longer avoid.
Also, according to the head of state, there is another version that explains the actions of the Russians. They are doing this without knowing what the public's reaction will be, preparing for one or another end of the war, Zelenskyy says.
They have stirred up a radically minded part of society with their propaganda. This percentage is quite high for them - I think somewhere around 20-25%. In my opinion, these people are definitely not ready to end the war. There is also a part of their society that will react badly to escalation. In my opinion, these are the two main scenarios, but, of course, there may be other motivations. And soon we will see which scenario Putin has chosen.
Additionally
The Russian internet watchdog announced that it is slowing down the Telegram messenger due to alleged violations of Russian law. This happened amid Moscow's attempts to force Russians to use a more tightly controlled domestic online service.
UNN also reported that Russian authorities have effectively blocked the WhatsApp messenger, making access impossible without complex workarounds.
Recall
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would mirror all Russian attacks, including those on energy.
