New Zealand plans to strengthen cooperation with NATO, contribute to Ukraine's self-defense, and finalize a new partnership with NATO in the coming months.
New Zealand seeks closer cooperation with NATO partners to maintain collective security and is ready to contribute to Ukraine's self-defense. This was stated by Foreign Minister Winston Peters on Friday after participating in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on April 3-4, UNN reports with reference to Reuters.

Peters emphasized that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will have a serious impact on global security, "and that's why New Zealand must be prepared to do its part.
New Zealand is negotiating a new type of partnership with NATO as the Alliance moves all of its partnership agreements to a new model called the Individual Partnership Program
"We look forward to finalizing this partnership in the coming months by agreeing on tangible areas of cooperation," said Peters.
Peters will travel to the United States and is expected to meet next week with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to discuss major global and regional security issues. He will address the UN General Assembly with a statement of New Zealand's "deep concern about the situation in the world.
