A serviceman who in September 2025 shot a man and a woman with an automatic rifle and also robbed a house was sentenced to life imprisonment. The court took into account that he had previously been convicted of intentional murder.

In the Cherkasy region, a serviceman who killed a man and a woman was convicted. He shot them with an assault rifle and robbed the house. This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense of the Central Region, UNN writes.
Following public prosecution by prosecutors of the Cherkasy Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense of the Central Region, the serviceman was found guilty under clauses 1, 6, and 13 of Part 2 of Article 115, Part 4 of Article 187, Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 2 of Article 194, Part 5 of Article 407, and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (the intentional murder of two persons, robbery, completed attempt to intentionally destroy another person's property by arson, failure to report for duty on time without valid reasons, and the acquisition and possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices without the permit required by law)
It was established that in July 2025, after completing his leave and medical treatment, the serviceman, without valid reasons, failed to arrive at his place of service and remained outside the military unit for an extended period, evading his official duties.
While away from his place of service, in September 2025, near one of the settlements in the Cherkasy region, acting out of greed, he decided to seize the property of a local resident.
To carry out his criminal intent, the defendant fired three aimed shots from an assault rifle at the victim. The man died at the scene from his gunshot wounds.
After that, the serviceman entered the victim's house, where a woman was present, shot her in the face, and struck her on the head at least three times with the assault rifle, causing her to die at the scene.
After the double murder, the defendant took possession of the victim's two metal detectors and, attempting to conceal the traces of the crimes, set fire to the house and summer kitchen.
Subsequently, as a result of the coordinated actions of law enforcement officers, the suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During searches at the serviceman's residence, two Kalashnikov assault rifles, seven combat grenades with fuses, and more than 900 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were discovered and seized. He had illegally stored them without the permit required by law.
The court agreed with the prosecution's position, taking into account the circumstances of the case and the identity of the defendant, who had previously been convicted of intentional murder and, after being released from prison, again committed particularly serious intentional crimes.
He will remain in custody until the verdict enters into force.
