Georgia is a country located on the eastern coast of the Black Sea, on the southern slopes of the main range of the Greater Caucasus. It borders Russia to the north and northeast, Azerbaijan to the east and southeast, Armenia and Turkey to the south. The area of Georgia is 69,700 square kilometers, and its population is 3.7 million people, of which more than a third live in the capital and largest city, Tbilisi. After the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, two regions of the country, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, are under Russian occupation. The self-name of the country is Sakartvelo.
