Sowing has already begun in all regions - what is being sown and which regions are leading

In Ukraine, 997 thousand hectares of grain have been sown, which is 17% of the plan. Odesa, Ternopil, and Mykolaiv regions are leading in the sowing campaign.

Spring sowing of spring grain crops has already begun in all regions, the Ministry of Economy reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.
Farmers in all regions have started sowing spring grain crops. As of April 14, 2026, all categories of farms have sown 997.0 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops, which is 17% of the forecasted areas.
In particular, spring wheat was sown – 128.5 thousand hectares, spring barley – 528.7 thousand hectares, peas – 209.8 thousand hectares, oats – 100.3 thousand hectares, millet – 0.3 thousand hectares, and corn – 0.1 thousand hectares.
The largest areas of grain and leguminous crops were sown by farmers in Odesa, Ternopil, and Mykolaiv regions.
By region:
- Odesa region – 164.5 thousand hectares (wheat – 10 thousand hectares, barley – 35 thousand hectares, peas – 95 thousand hectares, oats – 1.2 thousand hectares);
- Ternopil region – 81 thousand hectares (wheat – 13.3 thousand hectares, barley – 58.4 thousand hectares, peas – 4.1 thousand hectares, oats – 4.6 thousand hectares);
- Mykolaiv region – 79.3 thousand hectares (wheat – 3 thousand hectares, barley – 41.5 thousand hectares, peas – 33.1 thousand hectares, oats – 0.5 thousand hectares).
At the same time, the sowing of industrial crops continues. Currently, 126.8 thousand hectares have been sown. In particular, 68.6 thousand hectares of sugar beets have been sown, which is 35% of the forecast.
Also, sunflower sowing has begun in 13 regions of Ukraine – Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zakarpattia, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, and Chernivtsi. In total, 58.1 thousand hectares have been sown with this crop.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, corn sowing has begun.
Farmers in Lviv region have started sowing soybeans – 0.1 thousand hectares have been sown.
