Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing occupation administrations to confiscate housing from Ukrainians who have left the occupied territories. Real estate can be transferred to residents who have lost their homes or used as official housing for officials.
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has signed a law that grants so-called "administrations" in the occupied territories the right to confiscate the homes of Ukrainians who have left these areas. This is reported by UNN with reference to Russian media.

It is noted that this refers to amendments to the Federal Constitutional Law of the Russian Federation of December 15, which were approved by the State Duma and the Federation Council of Russia on the 9th and 10th of this month.
According to the adopted amendments, the occupation administrations receive the right to seize residential buildings, apartments, and individual rooms that are recognized as allegedly having signs of "ownerless property." This category will also include real estate whose owner cannot be established, or in cases of the absence of valid documents confirming ownership.
After the completion of the seizure procedure, the real estate comes under the disposal of the occupation administrations. The law defines several options for its further use: housing can be transferred to residents who have lost their homes due to hostilities, or used as service apartments for officials, military personnel, civil servants, law enforcement officers, as well as teachers and doctors.
In addition, confiscated real estate is allowed to be leased in accordance with the Housing Code of the Russian Federation or provided under social tenancy agreements to people who are officially on the waiting list for housing.
These rules will be in effect until 2030. If an owner appears after the seizure, monetary compensation is provided, but only citizens of the Russian Federation will have such a right. The payment mechanism will be determined by the occupation administrations.
