The US is calling on Europe to restrict entry from Africa due to an Ebola outbreak. Otherwise, Washington will tighten travel rules for Europeans traveling to America.

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is urging European countries to tighten travel restrictions for individuals entering the continent from Ebola-affected African nations, warning that failure to comply could lead to stricter U.S. travel rules from Europe, including for the FIFA World Cup, UNN reports, citing AP.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio called European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday to express concerns "to discuss U.S. and European coordination and response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda," according to a State Department statement.

"The Department’s highest priority and goal remains protecting the health of the American people and preventing this Ebola outbreak from reaching our shores," the statement said.
There are relatively few direct flights between Africa and the United States daily, but there are more than 300 direct daily flights between Europe and the United States.
