Great Britain and Germany are entering a "golden age" of defense cooperation, developing a long-range missile designed to protect Europe from Russia. This is reported by UNN citing The Telegraph.

Details

As the publication notes, both sides have grown closer due to their "straightforward" approach to defense cooperation, which for the Germans is a long-awaited departure from the disputes and "clashes of egos" that have overshadowed their relations with France.

At the core of the new relationship are two bilateral treaties — the "Trinity House Agreement" and the "Kensington Agreement." These agreements have paved the way for a range of projects in Great Britain being implemented under the leadership of the German defense industry.

These include a fleet of maritime drones that will protect British waters from Russian saboteurs, the "Gun Hall" project worth £400 million aimed at ramping up artillery production, as well as the latest version of Rheinmetall's "Boxer" — an infantry vehicle for the British army

- the publication states.

At the same time, the "crown jewel" of the aforementioned is the DPS missile program, the goal of which is to create a missile capable of destroying strategic targets in Russia from a distance of over 1,243 miles.

The DPS program, worth £30 billion, was announced as a UK-led project involving 12 allied countries at the NATO summit in Ankara in July 2026, with Germany expected to play a leading role

- reports The Telegraph.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced the deepening of defense cooperation with France.
