Brovary

The Brovary city authorities are implementing a number of medical programs to support privileged categories of people and cancer patients. The local authorities plan to maintain funding for the programs even in the face of a limited budget due to the war.

A Business Support Center was opened in Brovary to provide free advice on business registration and development. In 2023, about 150 entrepreneurs used the Center's services.

The Brovary City Council has introduced free sports and recreation programs for the military and their families. These include swimming in the Kupava pool and diving rehabilitation for wounded soldiers.

Brovary has allocated UAH 1. 5 million to support Olympians and develop sports. The funds will be used to reimburse athletes' travel expenses and help participants of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The executive committee of Brovary approved compensation to three condominiums for UAH 50 thousand to purchase generators. Since the beginning of the year, 15 facilities have already received over UAH 676.8 thousand in compensation.

The expert spoke about the problems of architectural accessibility in Ukraine and non-compliance with building codes. About 80-85% of new buildings do not meet accessibility standards, and the UN has recognized Ukraine's failure to fulfill its obligations.

The city of Brovary has prepared snowplows and purchased 1,000 tons of technical salt for the winter period. Utilities formed teams and produced 2,000 tons of sand and salt mixture to combat ice.

Serhiy Hryvko, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada subcommittee, said that the level of barrier-free accessibility in Ukraine is low. Rapid change requires resources and understanding of the problem, especially in terms of employment of people with disabilities.

The mayor of Brovary reported a successful start to the heating season. Almost all facilities are connected to heat, minor accidents are promptly resolved, and 10 boiler houses are running on alternative fuel.

The Brovary City Council has approved a EUR 2. 2 million loan to complete the construction of a modern primary school. The project includes enhanced security measures, including shelters and fire protection, in response to military threats.

Economist Oleh Pendzin emphasized the importance of forming a backbone of business in communities to ensure budget revenues. He urged local authorities to raise the issue of economic reservation more actively to address the labor shortage.

The number of entrepreneurs and companies in the Brovary community increased during martial law. Mayor Ihor Sapozhko reported attracting UAH 466 million in investments and creating 600 new jobs.

The number of people with disabilities in Ukraine is growing due to the war. The authorities are working to change building codes and install lifts to ensure unimpeded access to buildings and public places.

The heating season has started in the Brovary community. Educational institutions will be connected at the request of their heads, and condominiums and housing cooperatives - after the requests of their managers. 10 boiler houses run on alternative fuel.

The economist spoke about the ability of local authorities to facilitate the opening of enterprises through infrastructure support and assistance in finding labor. The expert also noted that a change in the tax system could increase the motivation of the authorities.

In the Brovary community, 10 boiler houses provide heat to important social facilities using wood chips. Energy efficiency measures are being implemented, including the installation of solar power plants under ESCO contracts.

Brovary is actively working to improve the city's accessibility for people with disabilities. They install electric lifts, adapt public places, and advise businesses on creating a barrier-free environment.

In 2022-2024, 76 investment projects worth over UAH 446 million were implemented in the Brovary community. Most of the projects were in the field of trade, and almost 600 new jobs were created.

How communities in Kyiv region support economic development.

In April, German language teachers from two Brovary lyceums will go on an internship in Jena. The twin cities have agreed to cooperate in education, culture, sports, and medicine.

A representative of the sister city of Jena visited Brovary to identify areas for further cooperation. The German city provides a variety of assistance to Brovary, including generators, medical equipment, and special vehicles.

Which communities pay significant attention to the physical development of boys and girls.

In the Kyiv region, the activities of the “How are you?” program have been implemented. Psychosocial assistance services, support for veterans and IDPs have been established, mental health centers are operating, and specialists are being trained.

The Brovary Veterans Hub hosted an event dedicated to World Mental Health Day. The participants discussed issues of psychological assistance to various categories of the population, especially veterans and their families.
