The next 2030 World Cup will be held in six countries, with 64 national teams participating.
President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) Alejandro Domínguez stated that FIFA is working for the second consecutive time on expanding the number of participants for the next 2030 World Cup. The next Mundial could take place with 64 national teams, reported Domínguez on social network X, as reported by UNN.

We are working to have 64 national teams participate in the 2030 World Cup in honor of the 100th anniversary of the World Cup. National team football develops when it opens up to the world. The expansion to 48 teams demonstrated that a larger number of participants creates more opportunities, promotes the development of football, and turns the World Cup into a truly global celebration
He added that "the centenary gives us a historic opportunity to 'Dream Big,' and therefore let the World Cup become the greatest celebration that football has ever seen."

Earlier, FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the organization will consider the possibility of increasing the number of participants in the football World Cup to 64 national teams.
Note that the 2026 World Cup, which took place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, hosted 48 teams for the first time, instead of 32 as in previous World Cups.
The 2030 World Cup will take place in six countries simultaneously. The first match of the future World Cup, including the celebration of the tournament's centenary, will be held at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay. The second and third matches will take place in Argentina and Paraguay, respectively. The remaining matches will take place in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
