The US Senate is planning to consider a bill to help Ukraine: Markarova explains how the vote will be held
Kyiv • UNN
The US Senate plans to consider aid bills that include a military support package for Ukraine. However, senators will have 30 hours to discuss the document before the final vote.
Today, on April 23, the US Senate is planning to consider aid bills that include a military support package for Ukraine. Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova said this on her Facebook page, UNN reports .
Details
According to her, the Senate is scheduled to begin consideration of the package of documents at 13:00 Washington time (20:00 Kyiv time).
Markarova added that the senators must first vote on two issues - Senator Schumer's amendment to the national security bill H.R. 815, which duplicates the House's decision, and a motion to close debate.
After these two votes (if approved), senators will have 30 hours (but no more than an hour each) to debate the bill, after which a final vote will be held
The diplomat recalled that in February, during the previous vote in the Senate to support Ukraine, senators' speeches lasted all night. She emphasized that the actual duration of this part of the procedure will depend on how many senators wish to speak and how long they will speak.
Recall
CNN has learned from its own sources that the United States, without waiting for the approval of the bill on aid to Kyiv, transferred some of the weapons from the first aid package closer to Ukraine's borders - to warehouses in Poland and Germany.
