The most valuable Easter cake: Easter cakes baked in Kyiv from flour from demined fields

A master class on baking Easter cakes was held in Kyiv as part of the "Soul of Soil 2.0" project. The flour for the Easter cakes was ground in Mykolaiv from wheat grown in the liberated and demined fields of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. The purpose of this initiative is to show the world the true value of Ukrainian bread. This is reported by the press center of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, reports UNN.

Details

The agency reported that wheat for the "Soul of Soil 2.0" project was grown in Mala Oleksandrivka and other villages of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, where sappers cleared 1,800 hectares. In total, Ukraine has already returned 35,000 square kilometers of land to use.

With this project, we want to draw attention to the problem of contamination of Ukrainian lands with explosive objects. Currently, Ukraine is the most mine-contaminated country in the world - 139,000 km² are potentially mined. The purpose of this initiative is to show the world the true value of Ukrainian bread.

- said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine — Minister of Economy.

During the master class, guests were taught how to bake traditional Easter cakes, shared their own recipes and cooking secrets, and told the story of flour from the demined fields of Kherson region. Each participant received a ready-made Easter cake as a gift.

The "Soul of the Earth" initiative embodies the resilience and spirit of Ukraine. On the eve of Easter, we must remember that every loaf of bread, every Easter cake on our tables is the result of many stories of courage – the dedication of farmers, the bravery of sappers and the unwavering support of the international community. Our collective demining efforts are not just about restoring land, they are about restoring life and ensuring a future in which Ukrainian land will play an important role in providing food for the world.

- said Mathias Schmale, Assistant Secretary-General, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine and Humanitarian Coordinator.

It is noted that similar master classes will be held in five more major cities of Ukraine. The event is supported by Ukrainian chefs: Leonid Malyuga in Lviv, Andriy Vorona in Dnipro, Oleksandr Tsepkovsky in Kharkiv, Igor Zrazhevsky in Odessa, Georgiy Asiryan and Yulia Khiznichenko in Mykolaiv.
