It was proved that in April 2017, the man and his friends were in a cafe in Chuhuiv, where they were drinking alcohol. The victim was also in the cafe, and the attacker began to unreasonably insult the woman, then followed her to a local park, where he later took out a knife and stabbed her about 10 times all over her body. The victim died on the spot from her injuries.

At the court hearing, the man pleaded guilty in full. He added that he did not want to kill the victim, but allegedly during the conversation she verbally abused him, which angered him. The attacker also said that he did not understand how it happened and that everything was "like a fog".

On February 5, 2024, the Chuhuiv City Court of Kharkiv Region found the man guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

However, the prosecutors filed an appeal against this decision, stating that it should be canceled due to the inadequacy of the punishment imposed by the court due to its leniency.

The verdict of the panel of judges of the Criminal Chamber of the Kharkiv Court of Appeal upheld the prosecutor's appeal.
