Sikorski: Poland will forgive Fico's visit to Moscow on the condition of unblocking aid to Ukraine

Warsaw may forgive Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico for his visit to Russia if he unblocks aid to Ukraine. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, UNN reports with reference to Dennik N.

Details

According to the diplomat, Poland sees positive changes in the Slovak head of government's attitude toward Kyiv.

"A few days ago, I read an interview with Prime Minister Fico. In fact, it sounded very positive. If he unblocks aid to Ukraine, but at the same time goes to Russia, we might be able to forgive him,"

Sikorski said.

In addition, the head of Polish diplomacy also expressed hope that the new Hungarian government would also lift the blockage of aid to Ukraine, and recalled the already approved loan of 90 billion euros.

Context

Recently, it became known that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico plans to visit Moscow on Saturday, May 9, to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, but does not intend to attend the military parade.

Prior to this, after a conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Fico stated that Slovakia supports Kyiv's ambitions to join the EU, as it wants Ukraine to be "a stable and democratic country as our neighbor."

Poland, as well as all three Baltic states, banned Fico from flying over their territory to Moscow for the May 9 parade.
